Dear Randy:
It is a pleasure to introduce you, to the recipients of the Class of
1952 Scholarship:
- Raymond G Lahoud '06, Easton, PA, English, College of Arts
and Sciences
- Marissa K Iannarone '06, North Caldwell, NJ, Finance,
College of Business and Economics
I also have the pleasure of informing our students of their
scholarship award announcements and providing them with the biographical
profiles for whom their scholarships were established. This will
give our scholarship recipients the wonderful opportunity to learn more
about those who have afforded the invaluable gift of a Lehigh education.
I know that many of our students are eager to express their sincere
thanks to their sponsors and to those who represent their scholarship on
behalf of our donors. Within the next few weeks, you will be
receiving letters of appreciation from your student(s). I hope
that you enjoy getting to know them.
As always, thank you for your commitment to a rewarding initiative
and for the important role you play in the lives of our Lehigh scholars.

Dear Mr. Randall:
I hope everything is going well with you. I would like to thank
you again for extending your Class of 1952 Scholarship contribution to
me again this year. I cannot begin to tell you my appreciation for
such a generous act of kindness. Your gift to me has made my education
at Lehigh University possible because without you I would not be able to
attend such a prestigious institution.
Life for me has been real hectic. Let me update you on some of
my accomplishments that were made possible through your donation of
scholarship funds made accessible to me. This year has brought me
into my senior year. It started off in mid-August with my
preseason training in Field Hockey. I was made Captain of the
Varsity Field Hockey Team. So I acquired a lot of responsibility
to myself but most importantly to my team. I came into season in
my best physical condition. It paid off because I was made Patriot
League Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week in October. I
scored the game winning goals in two of the Patriot League Games, which
qualified the team for playoffs in the Final Patriot League Tournament.
At the banquet that the team attended before the tournament, I was
awarded recognition as being honored with First Team All Patriot League.
All of this was happening while I juggled my core finance courses.
It all paid off because not only did I have the best Field Hockey season
I also obtained a 3.68 GPA.
Now that Field Hockey is over for me, I will be able to concentrate
solely on my academics.
If you have the time, please write back and let me know how you are
doing. Again let me extend to you my gratitude for making my
dreams become possible.
Have a happy and healthy new year.
Sincerely,
Marissa Iannarone

Dear Mr. Zehner:
I write to express my sincerest appreciation for the scholarship
which was awarded to me for my studies at Lehigh University for the Fall
2005 semester.
With the end of this semester, my time as a Lehigh University
undergraduate student is complete. After nearly four years at
Lehigh University, I have been afforded so many opportunities that will
better my transition into law school and into what we here at Lehigh
refer to as the "real" world.
As a student in the English Department, I was able to study in fields
and nations that I never thought possible. I traveled to the
United Kingdom, France, Italy, Kenya, and Australia where I studied the
literature, languages, laws, and political policies of each. When
at Lehigh, I was always encouraged to think outside of what was told by
textbooks and professors---education was placed in my own hands. I
was taught to think freely, to learn by experience, and to open up and
let a world of many cultures, peoples, and ideas in,
Often times, education is a perceived burden to students. So
many just do not want to learn. I must admit, I was one of those
students four years ago. But, things have changed. I have
grown to appreciate education, to value education, to want to learn.
Lehigh has proven to me that the mind is such a powerful tool which can
take an individual to worlds never before imagined.
I graduate from Lehigh this semester with a 3.83 GPA. I
graduate having earned highest honors. I graduate having taken so
many different classes, met many people, joined many groups, and written
many papers. But, the GPA, the classes, and even the people mean
nothing when I remind myself that I leave Lehigh University as an
intellectual who is ready to enter a world of many challenges. I
begin law school in the Fall of 2006 and thanks to this fine
institution, I am ready.
I wish to thank you and the Class of 1952 for all the help that the
scholarship has been to me. Your financial assistance played an
integral role in my education and I am forever grateful.
Sincerely,
Raymond G. Lahoud

December 27, 2004To update the Class, the Field Hockey Team made the Patriot League
playoffs for the first time in ten years. The Team made it to the first
round, but unfortunately lost to American University. I am proud to
inform you that I earned a grade-point average of 3.86 for this
semester. I would like to extend my wishes to the Class for a Happy New
Year.

Dear
Sir:
I
would
like
to
introduce
myself.
My
name
is
Marissa
Iannarone
and
I
am
a
junior
at
Lehigh
University.
I
am
the
proud
recipient
of
the
Class
of
1952
Memorial
Scholarship,
which
I
would
like
to
personally
thank
you
for
your
generous
contribution
to
Lehigh
University.
It
has
made
it
possible
for
me
to
attend
this
great
learning
institution.
My
major
is
Business
/
Finance.
I
am
thoroughly
enjoying
finance
and
am
glad
I
chose
this
as
my
major.
Last
semester
I
was
working
extremely
hard
in
my
courses
and
received
a
GPA
of
3.72,
which
proves
that
hard
work
really
proved
beneficial.
My
dedication
to
academics
is
starting
to
be
noticed
because
on
Friday,
October
1,
2004
I
was
inducted
into
The
National
Society
of
Collegiate
Scholars.
The
ceremony
took
place
at
Iacocca
Hall
and
was
such
a
great
honor
to
receive.
Sometimes
it
is
difficult
to
juggle
both
the
academics
and
also
participate
in
a
Division
I
athletic
program,
but
somehow
I
manage.
I
am
a
third
year
starter
on
The
Lehigh Women's
Varsity
Field
Hockey
Team,
which
is
a
year
round
sport.
We
are
more
than
half
way
through
our
season
with
a
team
record
of
5
wins
and
5
losses.
The
current
season
is
getting
intense,
because
we
are
starting
to
play
other
Patriot
League
Teams.
When
we
are
not
in
season
the
team
meets
and
works
on
strength
and
endurance,
as
well
as
participating
in
weekend
tournaments.
I
am
sure
I
don't
have
to
tell
you
what
a
great
institution
Lehigh
is.
The
University
has
so
much
to
offer
and
I
am
enjoying
myself
more
than
I
could
have
ever
imagined.
I
just
want
to
extend
my
thanks
to
you
again
for
your
kind
and
generous
award
that
is
making
my
learning
at
Lehigh
possible.
You
are
a
key
component
in
my
life.
Without
people
like
you
my
dream
of
receiving
a
degree
from
Lehigh
University
would
never
have
been
possible.
You
have
made
me
such
a
grateful
person.
I
will
continue
to
work
hard
and
will
let
you
know
of
my
progress.
Maybe
I
will
get
to
meet
you
one
day.
Sincerely,
Marissa
Iannarone
