He received the Ph.D. in physical chemistry from
Iowa State University in 1956, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and was a
Fulbright Scholar at Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. He
was appointed chair of the chemistry department at the University of
Oklahoma in 1971, dean of the Graduate College and vice provost for
research administration from 1974-78, and resumed teaching and retired
from OU in 1992. He was a member of Kappa Sigma. Survivors:
Wife, Betty; a son; two daughters; a stepson; six grandchildren. |

of La Crosse. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in Pusan with
the 269th Transportation Battalion. He earned an M.B.A. from
the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He was a brother of Beta Theta Pi.

Robert Borofski

March 11, 2006From Fall 2006 Alumni Bulletin: Robert L. Borofski . He was a retired revenue officer
of the Internal Revenue Service. He was an Air Force veteran of the
Korean War, serving as a sergeant. He was All-Scholastic in football in
1947 and played on the only undefeated football team in 1950. His name
was mentioned in The Citizens Voice top 100 athletes in 2005.
Survivors: Wife, Mary; daughter.
Robert L. Borofski, of Nanticoke, passed away Saturday, March 11th,
2006, at Kindred
Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born
in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Leon and Dorothy (Glowacki)
Borofski, and attended Nanticoke schools and Lehigh University.
Robert was All-Scholastic in football in 1947 and played on the
first undefeated football team for Lehigh University in 1950. His
name was mentioned in The Citizens’ Voice top 100 athletes in 2005.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Nanticoke, and served his
country in the Korean War as a sergeant in the Air Force.
Robert belonged to the American Legion, Post 350, Nanticoke.
He was an avid hunter and sports fan.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Brenda Borofski.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Grevera; daughter
Kristin Morgis and her husband, Dennis, Mountain Top, PA;
brother Ronald Borofski and his wife, Joyce, Mountain Top,
PA; aunts, cousins, nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday from the Kearney Funeral Home
Inc. at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St.
Stanislaus Church, Nanticoke.
The
viewing will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kearney Funeral Home
Inc., 22 S. Prospect St., Nanticoke.
His
sense of humor will be sadly missed by his friends and family. “Cheers.”
Spring, 2001:
Pat Moran took his annual trek East in September and witnessed a Lehigh / Cornell game. At halftime, the 50th anniversary of the 1950 undefeated team was celebrated. On the field were 31 of the original 42 players; imagine, not only are 31 of these guys still with us, but 74 percent of them returned! Of those back, 11 were from our class - Bob Borofski, Stan Gedney, Pete Ginesi, Lon Haines, Bill Henderson, Dave Mesick, Joe Orr, Dick Pradetto, Walt Pullar, Dick Schmidt and Bill Smith. |
