Lloyd is currently in assisted living about 5 minutes from my home.  Therefore, I keep him informed on what is going on.   Lloyd experienced a terrible car accident on Nov.12,1995 and was given a 20% chance of survival.  Recovery period was spent in the ICU for 2 months and then extended care for another 1 1/2 months in the hospital.  Through a lot of prayers and support he pulled through.  What a miracle!   I look forward to bringing him to my home and showing him the website regarding his classmates.  Please keep us on your email list!

Kay and I visited with Kathleen Doubleday on September 3rd.  She said Jad had died on the 25th of August while sitting at dinner with her.  He died suddenly and without pain or trauma.  I will provide a picture and more information alter.  I find it very difficult to write more than I have at this time. - Bill

August 14th - Talked with Kathleen tonight.  Jad is coming along well but is facing some time in rehab as he regains more and more strength and mobility.  He is broken-hearted that he will miss the Reunion. - Bill

Jad Doubleday had another stroke yesterday (August 9th) morning and is in the hospital. – August 2008

Jad had a slight stroke in April of 2004.  I talked with him on the phone and he said he was doing very well.  Bill <><

From Bill Erdman, WebMaster:  As Jad and I went to high school and Lehigh together I was fortunate to to be able to interact with him longer than just 4 years.  Jad was just as outgoing and pleasant at Mt Lebanon High School.  Over the year I was able to talk with him occasionally and see him at the various Reunions.  In High School he was nicknamed, "Twinkle Toes", for his running style.  Guys laughed at his small steps but no one could catch him!

It was my pleasure to talk with Kathleen a week after his death and to meet his son, James.  That was a very moving experience - Looking at James W was like jumping back 60 years and looking at Jad again!  The resemblance was breathtaking.

Jad, I miss you.

Spring 2009 - Just before deadline, Mike Seiler, Denton, Texas, phoned and told me that his good buddy Frank Hoagey passed away in November 2008. We reminisced for about an hour, and Mike shared that he got married in 1941; served in the Army 1944‑46; worked at the Steel during school; after Lehigh, worked for 34 years for Daimler Chrysler; and retired in 1986.  Mike mentioned that another of his Town group pals, Constantine 'Gus' Economy, passed away in February 1998.

Michel Seiler's February 2009 letter to Pat Moran:

Hello Pat,  Per our phone conversation on Thurs. I've enclosed the Obit of Frank A. Hoagey ME Class of '52. that his wife Betty sent me.  We appreciate your letting the classmates know of his death.  He and Constantine "Gus" Economy and I were from the Town group and spent many cram sessions together during our years at Lehigh.  We continued that friendship by coming together for the Reunions.  I also was a part of both their wedding parties in our senior year.  I was the OLD man of the group having married in 1941 and had two little girls to help me through my studies.  I worked at the Bethlehem Steel all through school and served in the Army from 1944 to 1946.

In 2007 Frank and I were making arrangements to attend the class 55"' reunion when he had a heart valve operation and suffered a stroke from which he never recovered.  He was partially paralyzed until his death in Nov '08.

Gus Economy died in Feb 1998 of a heart attack and I am not sure that information ever was passed on to you. I'll contact the Alumni office to check. I have sent a copy of Frank's Obit to the Alumni Office.

Thank you for the fine job of keeping the news flowing over the years. I really look forward to opening up to your column first thing when the latest Bulletin arrives. Wishing you the best in good health.
