In March of 2004 Bob Stabile (deceased). was going through some old photos
when he came across six pictures that he took at an MtL football game either in '47 or '48.

They are pictures of a game (someone scoring a TD), cheerleaders, etc.  (Click on image to enlarge, pass cursor over image for text)

Bob Eby wrote:  I can't identify any of the jocks, but I think the cheer leader may be Patsy Crawford (Class of '47).  She became a member of the boy's golf team, was the first girl ever in PA to win a letter in golf, and was the subject of feature articles in Pittsburgh papers.  By the way, the Lebanon Log reported that the golf team in '47 was undefeated until they reached the WPIAL playoffs, where they lost to Latrobe, whose star was Arnold Palmer!*

I believe Patsy went to Purdue, where she starred on the women's golf team and when she came back to MtL., set the women's course record at St. Clair ??  (perhaps, South Hills) CC.

This doesn't have much to do directly with '48, but it does bring back good memories.  Patsy was my lab partner in chemistry with Mr. Brown.

*Bill Erdman comments on Bob's comments: While in college I dated a girl named Winnie Walzer for several months.  In 1966 I introduced my wife, Kay, to Winnie, aka Mrs Arnold Palmer, at a fund raiser for a local hospital.  Arnold was the featured speaker.  I think it was one of the few times his wife was the center of attention from members of the audience.
