			How Small

			Scripture:
			Hebrews 4:14-16
(NIV) – “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has
ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to
the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to empathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been
tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin.  Let us
then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may
receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

			Message:

How small the man, in his own mind

How short this journey on borrowed time
How great the task before us lay
Of petty deeds, from day to day
Our futures bright, our fortunes made
Our souls but blight by judgment swayed
For we have chosen, as all men must
What to love and Whom to trust
For choice is a gift from the Father above
But in darkness we drift on our chosen lust
And sink deeper yet into ourselves
Where loneliness lies, quiet and still
But one beacon shines to lift us up
Free our minds from what is corrupt
For we have a High Priest who passed through Heaven
Jesus the Christ whose blood has forgiven

Raised us with Him, made us Holy again

			Prayer:
Thank You Lord for coming to earth to save us all from ourselves.
			Amen.

			Scripture:

			Psalm 139:1-6 (NIV) –

"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and
when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my
going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You
hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such
knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”

			Message:

						Lord,
you have searched me and know me.
You know when I rise and when I work.
You know my thoughts before I do.
You lead me forward and make my bed.
You know my habits, the will in my head.
You know when I curse and struggle in vain.
Yet you comfort and surround me,
						And make me your own.
Such knowledge is love we wish to sustain it,
A Love that's so high it's hard to attain it.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You that
			I am
fearfully and wonderfully made by You. Amen!

			Scripture:
Matthew: 2:1-2 (NIV Study Bible) – “After Jesus was born in
Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the
east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been
born King of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to
			worship him.’” (Please
read the entire Magi story in Matthew 2:1-18)

			Message:

Far from the east, the Magi to Jerusalem came to
visit Herod, the Jewish King. The Magi told Herod of the star
they had seen Announcing a new King’s reign
They asked him where the “Christ” was to be born
Herod summoned his high priests In Bethlehem of
Judea, the prophets had borne Herod told the Magi to go to
Bethlehem To find this child, the Messiah foreseen So, he
too could worship this child they found To the Manger, the Magi
went, Following the star God had sent. The Magi bowed
before Mother Mary and God’s heir. To Him they presented Gifts:
gold, Frankincense and Myrrh Warned in a dream not to Herod
return The Magi travelled home by a different turn Herod in
a rage, decreed the slaughter of the Innocents, as foretold
to kill the Christ child and boys under two years old. But
Joseph, warned in a dream by an angel To Egypt fled with Mary
and Child There they found safety, crossing the Nile.

			Prayer:
Lord, let us never forget that Love came down on Christmas day; the
day You were born, into our very presence. Amen.

			Scripture:

			Ephesians
2:1-10 (NIV) - "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and
sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is
now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived
among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and
following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by
nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for
us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when
we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the
heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he
might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his
kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have
been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is
the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For
we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do."

			Message:
And you He let live, though you were dead
Sealed by your sins, the paths that you tread
For you have followed, the way of this world
Seeking its power, apart from Your God
All have been ruled, by the passions of flesh
Desires of the body, as children of wrath
But God, rich in mercy, power, and grace
Has raised us in Him, took Jesus in our place
So, we may be seated, in the heavenly realm
And richly rewarded, by our faith in Him
For it is by Faith, that we have been saved
Not works nor glory, only Grace makes our way

			Scripture:
			1 Peter
			3:8-12 (NIV)
			– “Finally,

			be  sympathetic, love one
			another, be compassionate
			and humble.
			Do
			not repay
			evil with evil or
			insult with

			For, 'Whoever

			3:1-23 (NIV Extract 3:1, 21b-23) - "Brothers and sisters, I could
not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who

							I found you as infants

							 Not worthy but worldly
							I planted the seeds
							But God made them grow

							 For you are God's Temple
							The Spirit is in you
							You show it is sacred
By the things that you do

For the wise man is foolish
							And small in God's sight
							His boasting but futile
For it serves not his plight

							 For we are all one
							One body in Christ
							As we serve one another
							We champion God's might

			Scripture:
1 John 4:1-21 (NIV) – “Dear friends, do not believe every
spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God,
because many false prophets have gone out into the world…. You, dear
children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who
is in you is greater than the one who is in the world…. Dear
friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone
who loves has been born of God and knows God…. No one has ever seen
God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is
made complete in us. This is how we know that we live in him and he
in us: He has given us of his Spirit.”…. If anyone acknowledges that
Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so
we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever
lives in love lives in God, and God in them…. And he has given us
this command: anyone who loves God must also love their brother and
			sister.”

			Message:

					For you
dear friends, are friends in the Spirit
Test all the claims of many false prophets

					For you,
dear children, are children from God
For He who is in you has overcome the world

					Let us
love one another, be reborn from above
For he who knows God, knows God is love

					For if we
live in Him, and He lives in us
We live without fear, safe in His trust

					His
command we obey, to love one another
For whoever loves God must also love his brother.

					Amen.

			Prayer:
Dear Lord, we praise and thank You that Your “One and only begotten
Son” came to give His life as a ransom for many, and to prove by His
example on the cross of Calvary that: “greater love has no one than
this, that he lay down His life for his friends.” May we be
faithful to share that kind of love with our brothers and sisters in
Christ, and all who we meet, each and every day of the year, not
just on Easter Sunday, morning. Amen!

			Scripture:
Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV extract) – “Finally, be strong in the Lord
and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you
can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle
is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the

			Message:

			Be strong in

the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me:
‘Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.’ And he
carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and
showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like
that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.” “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear
as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the
middle of the great street of the city.
			On
each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops
of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of
the tree are for the healing of the nations.
No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of

Faithful Stephen, full of power and grace
Did wonderful signs, in God’s Holy

Yet they could not withstand his spirit and wisdom
So, they brought false witnesses, to accuse him of evil
But they saw that his face was like that of an angel
Then Stephen was filled with the Holy Spirit He saw
heaven open and the Son of Man in it.
Then they laid on hands, took him to the wall To
stone him to death, before a young Saul And as they

			Scripture:
			John 10:7-18 (NIV) – “Therefore
			Jesus said again, ‘Very
truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come
before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened
to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.
They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes
only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have
life, and have it to the full. I am the good shepherd. The good
shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not
the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf
coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks
			the flock and scatters it.
The man runs away because he is a hired
hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I
know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and
I know the Father – and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have
other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them
also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one
flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay
down my life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me,
but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down
and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my
			Father.’”

			Message:

			                The sheep enter my gate
			                Where they may thrive
			                Safe from the thieves
			                And wolves of this life

For I am the Good Shepherd
			                My voice they know well
			                By forgiveness spoken
			                The Truth that I tell

For I Lay down the Life
			                My Father has given

			                To carry them to Heaven

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) – “I can do all things through Christ who
			strengthens me.”

			 Message:
A child came upon a chrysalis hanging from a branch, while playing
in his yard.  He was amazed by its beauty and would visit it
regularly.  One day he saw that it was very transparent and wiggling
			– he could even see the butterfly inside.  As
he continued to watch, it seemed as though the butterfly was
suffering and struggling to get out.  The boy decided to help so he
used small scissors and carefully opened the chrysalis the rest of
the way and revealed the beautiful butterfly.  Several minutes
passed, the wings didn’t open and soon after the
			butterfly
died.  It seems that struggling and discomfort are necessary to
			strengthen the butterfly’s
			wings and circulation so that
			the butterfly
can grow and thrive.  As with the butterfly,
God promises to sustain us during our inevitable struggles and
suffering and use it as a means to strengthen us,
			and our
			faith on
			our Christian walk.

			 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to accept that we will have difficult times
and use them to help us grow closer to
			You.  Amen.

			Scripture:

1 Peter 1:3 - "Praise be to the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into
a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
			dead."

As I looked through my window after the January
freezes, my garden seemed destroyed and hopeless. Most of the
numerous flowering shrubs, trees, and plants were brown and
lifeless. As I ventured into the mess, I had to smile as I
came across garden statues, a bird bath, Easter eggs, plants
(thrilled to finally see some light), all revealed now that the
			clutter had been knocked back.

Before the freeze, my gardens appeared to be lush
and pretty, but now that I can see them clearly, I realize they are
overgrown and full of invasive weeds, vines, seedlings, and
volunteer plants, all hiding its true potential. In a few
months, there will be new growth (the plants only appear to be
destroyed), and the garden could quickly return to its former state.
I plan to use this opportunity to remove the clutter, learn from my
mistakes, and grow a well-planned, tended garden, more aware of what
can happen when I lose focus.

			The quote attributed to

			Dorothy Frances Gurney:

“One is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.”1
is a favorite of mine.  In my quiet time in my garden, He speaks to
			me loud and clear.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for giving us
hope when things look hopeless. You give me the promise of new
life through Jesus for me, my family, church, country, world, and
yes, even in my garden. Amen.

								 Dear Lord,
								See our plight.
								We've been told many things
								Tell us what is right.
If they said You were just a man,

If they said You were a carpenter, Lord,

If they said You were a Shepherd

If they said You were a preacher, Lord,

			"When Joseph
and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they
returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the

				 Mary the Virgin
				Blessed with God's child
				Visited her cousin Elizabeth
				At the home of Zechariah

				 When she heard Mary's voice
Elizabeth was filled with the Spirit
Her son John leapt in her womb
				Knowing Mary carried our Lord

				 Years later, as men,
				As Isaiah had written
				John baptized his cousin

Then Jesus came baptizing with the Spirit of God.

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 13:1, 13 (NIV) – “If I speak in the tongues of men or
			of angels, but
			do
not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal” “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest
			of these is love.”
			Message:
In tongues I may speak, of Angels and men

But if love I lack, I sound but a gong
If prophesy I give, fathom all
But have not the Love, then nothing I am
If I surrender, my body to flame
But have not the Love, then nothing I gain
For Love is patient, Love is kind
Love does not boast, nor seek its own mind.
Love is not rude, or seek self-accord
Love is not angry, for it keeps no record
			Love always trusts, always perceives
Love never fails, only truth it believes
I was a child, I thought childish things
When I grew older, I thought like a man
For these three remain, Faith, Hope and Love
by Heaven's refrain, the greatest is Love
Prayer: Advent is the season of faith, hope, and love. May I love you all with the "Love of the Lord." Amen.

			Scripture:
			Hebrews
4:14-16; 5:1-10 (NIV extract) – “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who
has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly
to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has
been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Let
us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we
may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” “….During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers
and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save
him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent
submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he
suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal
salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high
priest in the order of Melchizedek.”

(Please read the full text in your Bible)

			 Message:

For we have a High Priest
			Who passed through the Heavens
			Jesus the Christ
			Whose blood has forgiven
			Tempted as the weak
			Yet Pure, without Sin

			For we approach the Throne
			With boldness and Grace
			To receive God's Mercy
Bask in light from His face

			For as mortal priests
			We live not in honor
			But share in His Glory
			As gifts from the Father

			For Christ did not glorify
			Himself as High Priest
			In the Order of Melchizedek
In the days of His flesh

			For He offered up Prayers
			Loud cries and soft tears
To the One who was able
			To save Him from death

			His cries were all heard
			For He was the Son
			Made perfect in deed
			Joined the Father as One!

			Prayer:
Thank God for blessing us ALL during Lent, by sending His One and
only begotten Son, to reconcile us ALL back to Him. His mercies
come fresh and new, each and every day! Not just on Easter Sunday,
			morning!! Amen.

			Be Still

			Scripture:

Psalm 46:10 (NIV) – “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I
will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’”

			Message:

Ah, to be still. I find that I keep my mind filled with unnecessary
clutter, causing needless stress and worry from everyday life. One
way that helps me to quiet my mind is to putter in my garden. There
is something magical and soothing about mindlessly pulling weeds, or
artfully planting and pruning that puts me in a peaceful place so
that I can focus on God. I have hung a plaque on my porch that
says, "You are nearer to God's heart in a garden than anywhere else
on earth." I, along with the many birds and butterflies that join
			me, agree whole-heartedly.

			Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to be still in my heart and my mind to
allow me to see, hear, feel and share the glorious gifts that You
			have provided.

			Amen.

			Words To Live By

			Scripture:
			1 Timothy
			6:3-11 (NIV) – “If
anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction
of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited
and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in
controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife,
malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people
of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think
that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with
contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world,
and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing,
we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into
temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that
plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a
root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have
wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But
you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
			(Please
			continue
reading in your Bible through verse 19)

			Message:

Be not confused by the world's false refrain
Love only Truth, make Godliness gain.
Do not talk falsely, for your life's not your own
Give your gifts freely and make Heaven your home.
Be then not tempted, by the "shiny" devil
For the love of money is the root of all evil.
For we bring nothing in, we can take nothing out
But the depth of our faith, our love and our doubt.
For we wander away, we are pierced with pain
When we lose faith by our lust for worldly gain.

Prayer: Lord, we pray that we may share in
full measure with ALL God's creation and store up Your treasure on
			Christ's good foundation. Amen.

			Message:

			Gabriel, Angel of the Lord,
			To Nazareth came
			Seeking a Virgin
			Mary by name.
			He told the fair Maid
			Do not have fear
			The Lord is with you
			His Favor is near.
			You will conceive
			And bear a young Son
			His name will be Jesus
			Who inherits the Throne.
			For He will reign,
			As David his ancestor,
Over the House of Jacob forever.
			You will be visited
			By the Holy spirit
			And be overshadowed
			By the power of God!
			Then, Mary replied
			Here am I,
			Servant of the Lord,
Let it be done to me
			According to your Word.
