Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
(NIV) – “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in
all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with
the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
– “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me.”
John 16:33
(NIV) – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have
peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I
have overcome the world.”
John 3:16-17
(NIV) – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the
world, but to save the world through him.”
Message: Being the youngest of five is not
always easy, especially at the tender age of four. The teasing and
tauntings were always just around the corner. Granddad was my
protector. We all loved him, and he loved us. He would sit in his
favorite chair, observing, as the teasing intensified. Finally, I
would run to Granddad for protection and comfort. He’d put me on
his lap, give me a hug, and all would be right with the world. “thy
rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4).
As I grew up and came to know Jesus Christ as my
personal Savior, I realized that Jesus is my Redeemer and Comforter.
Jesus promised that we would find peace in Him, despite the
troubles we face, because He has overcome the world (John 16:33).
Jesus’ death and resurrection are not only about
the forgiveness of sins, but also about eternal life. God loved the
world so much that He gave His one and only Son to save the world
(John 3:16-17).
God’s love for us is not based on our achievements;
it is infinite. Recognizing His love and compassion, regardless of
who we are, helps us build our faith and strengthens our confidence
to navigate life’s complexities.
Prayer: Lord, help us fully accept Your love
and forgiveness. Open our hearts and minds so we may extend
compassion and understanding to others. Let us rejoice in the
resurrection of our Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.
