Once For All1

Scripture: 1 Peter 3:18a (RSV) – “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God,” (bolded for emphasis).

Message: Jesus died one time for all sin and for all people who accept His gift of grace and forgiveness.

Once for all, Lord, you paid the price,
Made the sacrifice, I’m forgiven!
Once for all you went to Calvary,
Hung upon that tree, I’m forgiven.
Though unworthy as I am,
On the cross you bore my sin,
And I’m forgiven!

A thief that hung there with you
Said “Jesus remember me.”
And in your deep compassion
You said, “Today, you’ll be with me.”

Long ago, you tore the veil from me,
So that I could see, I’m forgiven!
And I know, when life is over here,
I don’t have to fear, I’ll go on living.
I have eternal life today.
Once for all, you made a way,
Now I’m forgiven!  Yes, I’m forgiven,
Once for all, forgiven.1

Prayer: Thank you, Father, that You gave Your Son to die one time for all of my sins, past, present and future, so that I can be forgiven and dwell in Your presence forever.  Amen.
