It Was Enough

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) – “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Message: Jesus did all that was necessary for us to be freed from our sins.

As Jesus carried out the plan of God
Many years ago,
It was enough to show God’s mercy
For man’s soul.
It was enough that just a word from Him
Could make the crippled stand,
And He spoke forgiveness to the sinful man.

When He rode toward Jerusalem
The people shouted “King.”
They looked forward to the freedom
He would bring.
It was enough that He brought hope and joy
o the hearts of man.
Hardly seemed the cross could be part of the plan.

But then the mood began to change
And trouble came to be.
Within a week those busy streets
Lead Him to Calvary.

There they hung the man that they called “King”
Up on a cruel cross,
And it seemed the hope he’d offered would be lost.
But the crown of thorns upon His head
Really crowned the King.
They didn’t know the kind of freedom He would bring.

The bondage of a sinful life,
A hateful attitude,
The coldness of indifference,
Or the life that needs renewed,
These are the reasons that He bled and died
That day at Calvary,
It was enough,
It was enough to set us free.1

Prayer: Thank You Lord, for dying for my sins and freeing me from the bondage and separation from You that sin brings.  Amen.
