I Just Want To See All The Colors

Scripture: John 12:20-23 (NIV) – “Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival.  They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘we would like to see Jesus.’  Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.  Jesus replied, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.’”

Message: When our great grandson turned four, he briefly disappeared during his birthday celebration at our house.  I went to see what he was doing and found him in our bedroom.  He was standing in front of his great grandmother’s mirrored jewelry armoire that he had opened.  As I entered the room I said, “don’t mess with grandma’s jewelry.”  Without moving, little Tristan just stood there and said softly, “I just want to see all the colors.”  His words stopped me in my tracks as I watched him take in all the wonderful colors of his great grandma’s jewelry.

As I reflect on that wonderful moment it strikes me that it will be like that when we are at the doors of heaven.  We will stop and just take in the wonderful colors of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.  As we stand there, we may be asked, “What are you doing?”  And we will reply, “I just want to see all the colors.”

Prayer: Our loving Father we stand in awe of You!  Grant us the patience to stop and see all the colors.  Amen.
