He Promises To Always Be With Us.

Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Message: Jesus assured His followers of His constant presence as they went out on their divinely commanded mission.  This extends to all of us.  Perfect peace comes when we focus on God’s promise and presence in our lives and study His Word.

We are so busy in our daily lives, do we spend enough quiet time with God and reading His Word?  Let’s commit to being more like Christ, so others will want to know our God.

I recently read “The greatest story ever told”1 by Bear Grylls.  This brought the life and times of Jesus alive in such a heart rending way.  To think He died going through such unimaginable suffering and pain just for us.  After Jesus’ crucifixion His disciples faced terrible trials, yet they continued to spread the gospel.  As we serve God let’s not become despondent when facing challenges, but be steadfast knowing that Christ is with us, when we turn to Him.  Our faith will often be tested, but we must stand firm, study His Word and be with people who build us up.

I find belonging to a weekly Bible study/fellowship group helps.  Sometimes after a busy day at work, I want to go home and lie on the couch.  Yet when I go to my Bible study group my spirit is uplifted and strengthened so that I can face the next day.  Some people say they don’t need to go to church to have a personal relationship with God, however belonging to a church community provides the support we need for growth.  Think of an ember from a fire, when we take it out of the fire and put it on its own, it dies.  We need to be a part of a church community for our faith to thrive.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You died on the cross for us, that You love us so much and are always there for us.  Forgive us when we sin, doubt or fear.  Fill us with the Holy Spirit, equip us with the tools to love, serve, follow and worship You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  Amen.
